Typography Modular

I chose to visually represent the words liquid and solid in contrasting typographic compositions.

Here, I created water dripping using the pen tool and overlaid text which I warped to fit the shapes of the dripping water. I wanted to add a darker shade to the sides of the drops to add more dimension, but I couldn’t figure out how to blur the darker color so that it fit only on the drops and didn’t spill onto the background.

For the solid piece I decided to go with the phrase “solid gold.” I made the words look like shiny, gold metal, then, in a radial pattern, repeated the text to create a solid-looking composition.
